One of the pieces of equipment that no one wanted to ever use was the jungle penetrator. It hung from the rescuing chopper and was heavy enough to get through the tangle of vines and bamboo. When it got to the ground, you wrapped your legs around it and strapped yourself on.
If you were lucky, the crew hoisted you into the chopper and away you went. Pretty good form of rescue.
